Sue Fawcett

Sue Fawcett joined the BDC board of directors in April 2008. After serving as a vice president and investment advisor at a major financial institution, she became president of Fawcett Financial Inc., a private firm providing strategic advice to early-stage companies. Ms. Fawcett also works closely with one of Canada's most successful Angel investment organizations, Venture Alberta

   

Dennis Niebergal

Dennis Niebergal has special expertise in the healthcare information technology sector. He is a founding board member of national health care association and member of several international healthcare associations.  Dennis is an internationally-recognized subject matter expert and award-winning industry leader. He holds multiple degrees, certifications, and training, including Certified Corporate Director.

Terry Booth

Terry is a partner with Collins Barrow Calgary LLP specializing in early stage public and private companies, primarily in the technology sector.  Terry’s focus is on assisting his clients with financing, accounting and tax requirements, and providing general advisory services to help his clients manage growth.

 

Stuart Cullum

Stuart Cullum is the current Executive Director of novaNAIT, NAIT’s centre for applied research and technology transfer and is responsible for all research, technology transfer and business incubation activity for the Institution. In its two years, novaNAIT has acquired more than $18 million in external funding for NAIT’s applied research programs and graduated 5 companies each of which have acquired angel investment. In his prior role as Associate Vice President, Business Development with WestLink Innovation Network, he was responsible for corporate planning and fund raising, in addition to identifying and building strategy for commercializing early stage technology opportunities with colleges and universities across western Canada. As an investment manager with AVAC Ltd., Mr. Cullum assessed project plans and recommended commercialization strategies and investments for agriculture companies and entrepreneurs

Kristina Milke

As general manager of Investopedia, Kristina Milke oversees all of its operations. Ms. Milke originally joined Investopedia in 2008 when it was still under the management of the original co-founders and prior to its acquisition by ValueClick. Six months into her tenure with Investopedia, she took over the general manager responsibilities and has transitioned the organization towards focused growth.  Ms. Milke also assisted with the efforts in the marketing and sale of Investopedia to ValueClick. Ms. Milke brings more than seventeen years of financial and management experience to Investopedia. Prior to joining Investopedia, Ms. Milke was the Corporate Divisional Controller for Intuit, Canada where she partnered with the operational groups and developed and implemented resource allocation processes. Ms. Milke is a Chartered Accountant with a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Alberta.

 

Randy Lennon

Randy Lennon is a 30 year entrepreneur who has founded and built successful enterprises in the fields of newspaper publishing, television and radio, recording artist management, retail, advertising and marketing, and the Internet. Immediately prior to co-founding Meridian he opened a highly successful Calgary office in his capacity as Senior Vice President, Prairie Region for a Vancouver based investment banking firm.

Henry Kutarna

Chairman of a family investment fund specializing in investment property, manufacturing, and technology; family business consultant, Executive In Residence at the Banff Centre; heads Alberta Deal Generator in Calgary; coaches and mentors boards and executives; expertise in raising capital and business turn arounds.

   

John Pinsent

In 2004, John became a founding partner with St. Arnaud Pinsent Steman Chartered Accountants “SPS” following a distinguished ten-year career with Ernst and Young LLP as an Assurance Senior Manager and their manager of Technology, Communication and Entertainment (TCE) assurance services for Northern Alberta.

At SPS, John specializes in the provision of accounting, audit, tax and business advisory services for owner-managed businesses.  John has a particular passion for assisting early stage companies and has been an active angel investor and mentor to organizations in this space.  During his many years in public practice, John has built a strong network of contacts from various industries and he regularly uses this support network to assist his clients and investee companies build value for the their enterprises.
